Strange questions on EEA3/4

Someone on the British Expats was asking about the relevance of the following questions on an "Application to transfer indefinite leave to remain in UK: form NTL". They're also on EEA3 and EEA4 forms.
9.12. Please state what ties you have with;
• The country where you were born
• Any other country whose nationality you hold
• Any country where you have lived for more than 5 years
You should tell us about any family, friends, or other connections with that country.
Let me take myself as an example (e.g. EEA3 in the future):
• The country where you were born---UK: 80% of my family live there, 65% of my friends live there [Would I note my renunciation of British citizenship here?]
• Any other country whose nationality you hold----Ireland: 5% of my friends live there
• Any country where you have lived for more than 5 years----China: 15% of my friends live there
Would they really require me to write details about my family and friends living in those countries? That's a big exercise!
I'd be curious to see how other people dealt with these...
