eea uk clearance visa query

Dear.
Im a french national who has been residing in UK for the last
14 years. I have a permanent residency card.
I got married last year in October 2013 in Pakistan and my
wife came to the UK on 9th March 2014 on a uk entry
clearance visa. As I was an eea national she was granted
a eea family permit.
we are looking to go abroad to Italy to visit families
in may 2014.
She doesn't have a residence card at present but only a uk
entry clearance visa.
can you please advise whether she can travel with me to
Italy?
Will she be eligible to apply for a schengnen visa?
I have looked at the the schengnen form and one of the document required is the residence card which she doesn't
have as yet.
can you please assist?
