get benefits on PR whilst husband not eligible yet for PR?

Hi,
from what I have been reading I understand that currently, as a resident and getting PR next year (however husband's waiting time for PR is another 4 years), I can apply for certain benefits that do not count as public funds, also including work tax credit and child benefit.
I am wondering if once I have my PR next year (husband still waiting), can I apply for full benefits in the UK without this affecting his PR later?
I know that I will have same rights as British citizens in terms of benefits then but because my husband's PR is depending on me, I don't want to make any mistakes.
Could anyone please confirm if I have understood the above information correctly. Thanks!
