Non-EEA family member - timings for obtaining PR

I have lived with my partner (an EEA national) since January 2009. I got a residence card on the basis of being the "durable partner" of an EEA national in August 2011 (we've since got married, but I think that's probably irrelevant).
He got PR in Feb 2013. I want to know when I'm eligible to apply for PR - does the 5 year "clock" start when I got the residence card (because we weren't married at the time and so I didn't automatically have the right to reside here) or does it start when we started living together?
