Time Abroad - Economic Status

Hi there,

If an EU national can be absent from the host member state for six months in every twelve without affecting their continuity of residence, does this mean that their economic status in the UK becomes irrelevant during that period of time (in terms of a future EEA3/EEA4 application)?

Or say for example the EU national is working in the UK but needs to travel to another EU state for 4 months - will they automatically come under the self-sufficient category for this period of time (thereby requiring both the EU national and their partner to hold CSI)?

Thanks.

There is no need to exercise treaty rights while abroad.
