Dear Gurus,

My mother in law were issued EEA2. A month ago she went to asia to meet family members, Unfortunately she had heart problem and got hospitalised. Few weeks ago they done major surgery and advised not to make any trips for next 6 months. Already she is out of country for 2 months on top of that she cant come back for next 6 months. How this will affect her residency status. She can enter UK without any problem after 6 months.

Many Thanks

She will be fine, provided she can provide medical evidence for the reason for her absence.

She should keep official records related to being sick, to be able to demonstrate it if asked in the future.

In any case, her right of free movement comes from the legal relationship she has with the EU citizen. It is unlikely that will change during the period she is outside the UK.
