Voluntary unemployment - treaty rights as jobseeker

In order to count as exercising treaty rights as a jobseeker under EEA law, does it make a difference whether the unemployment is voluntary (e.g. resigning) or involuntary (e.g. being made redundant) as long as one supplies the necessary evidence (application letters, invitations to interview etc.)?
I know that this difference is important in regards to maintaining worker status, however, I was wondering if voluntary unemployment could also cause problems in terms of jobseeker status as I'm thinking of leaving my job to go travelling and then look for another job back in the UK that is more appropriate in terms of qualifications.

Thanks in advance!

Leaving the UK does not break continuity of residence ,provide the absence due to traveling does not exceed 6 months.

You will lose worker status when you return, as you had vacated the job market and unavailable for work. However provide you enter withing the 6 months, and register as jobseeker again, you will be considered a qualified person, and will not have broken your residence for the purpose of Permanent Residence.

Great, many thanks, that's what I hoped to hear!

As for the jobseeker registration, I heard that one can only register for the purpose of receiving JSA now (which I will not be entitled to due to leaving voluntarily and which I do not need), but that there is no official job seeker registration apart from this.

Do you think it would be a problem to not be registered with the Job centre Plus as long as I can supply alternative evidence to prove my job seeker status?

For example, I would be registered with an employment agency and would also be sending out applications on Higher Education institution's online systems which send automatic confirmations for each application...do you think that this would suffice as evidence?

Hi,
I think that will be fine. Make sure you got all the proofs like Enrolment, Sent proof of application, covering letters, invitation for interview etc.

All the best
