EEA2 to British Citizenship

Hi All

Tried finding the answer but after hours of reading still couldn't see it.

My wife is an EEA national in the UK for 9 years and also for the past 2 years a British citizen as well. I am on a EEA FP and have been for the past 5 years. Will I be able to apply for citizenship or will I have to go through the ILR route?

Also I noticed quite a bit of discussion about the permanent residence card instead of ILR. Is this different?

If I have to get the permanent residence card how long before I can get citizenship?

Thank you in advance.

Regards
Pieter

Thanks Jambo. Makes a bit more sense now.

So I can potentially apply under the 3 year rule. Another stupid question. Would the 3 years then start from the date she becomes a BC or is it more related to our relationship?
