EEA4 Sections 7.1 and 7.3. - same information

I'm struggling to see the difference between Section 7.1 and 7.3.
I have a mixture of employment and self-employment. Section 7.1 has a list of boxes that may be ticked and other boxes for dates. The 'tick' boxes do not seem to correspond to the 'date' boxes. Do I need to complete both 7.1 and 7.3?
If someone could please explain how to complete 7.1 I would be really grateful.
