EEA national proving CSI without EHIC

I am looking to apply for EEA3. I am a Czech Republic national, have studied in the UK from September 2008 until June 2011 and then I have been working here since (I've done 2 full-time 10 week summer internships in summer 2010 and summer 2011 and have started working full time in January 2012, having an accepted job offer from September 2011).

To prove I had CSI while I was student, I've read I need to either provide private health insurance papers (I didn't have that) or an EHIC from (in my case) the Czech Republic. Well the mixed news is I did have a Czech EHIC card while I was studying, but I don't have that card now since it expired like 3 years ago and I didn't know back then I would need it for this.

Basically in the Czech Republic, by law, every kid until 18, and every student until like the age of 26 or so, is insured by the state-owned general health insurance company.

1) So I am thinking of trying to get a letter of confirmation of this health insurance during my study period from the Czech national health insurance company, and then get it translated to English by some lawyer (since it's going to be enough struggle to get them to issue this non-standard document even in Czech). Realistically what are the chances of this being accepted as CSI?

2) Alternatively I can try to get a document that I had an EHIC card valid until such an such date which was after my study ended. If I do manage to get this out of the Czech national health insurance company, it will be in Czech and hence again I will have to get it translated to English by a lawyer. Would that have good chances as passing as CSI?

3) Irrespective of CSI, when I apply for EEA3, can I say I was a student from September 2008 till June 2011 even though I had a full time internship for 10 weeks in the summer of 2010, and list that separately, or do I need to say I was a student from Sep 08 till Jun 10, then employed from Jun 10 to Sep 10, then student from Sep 10 till June 11?

I don't think EHIC will work because it is only meant for temporary stay only in host European state but you spent a lot years which means the stay was not temporary. You must had private medical insurance for that time.

Are you sure?

The FAQ from this forum below says non-UK EHIC counts and I've seen several other topics on this forum mentioning that:

http://www.immigrationboards.com/eea-ro ... 14867.html

And to be honest, I am saying EHIC just because I saw it in the FAQs. For a fact, for the whole time I was a student and until I began working *AND* proved to the Czech National Health Insurance Company that I am working in the UK, I was compulsorily insured by the Czech National Insurance Company (I had to do a dcent amount of paperwork to opt out of this once I began working). Does that count for null for this CSI?

I see. Well I didn't have the private health insurance so I can either not apply at all or apply based on the EHIC and claim I was staying temporarily until the end of my studies and then my plans changed. Has that got any chance? I am kind of willing to give it a shot considering I really didn't have the private health insurance.

It seems that a lot of people on this board who are using their student years for the residence requirements are doing it based on the EHIC...

No harm in applying, trying and risking for only £55. Maybe it work :)
