Hello Everyone
My friend wants to apply for Eea family permit for his wife, he is exercising treaty rights by working but still didn't apply for EEA1 residence card.
I just wanna know is it compulsory to have a residence card to apply for Eea FP I am asking this question coz on form they have asked for Eea national registration certificate number.

It is not necessary at all, but he will need to provide information about how he is exercising treaty rights with the application.

You can ignore that question about the EEA1 registration certificate number. We ignored this when my partner applied for his EEA family permit in May (or June) of last year.

I have been told, that others tried to ignored this section where you need to provide the NRC number and if you don't write there anything you cannot go to the next step. But then this is not the case? Or maybe just from now? However it does say the NRC=National Registration Certificate is not a requirement but it does help your application and makes it faster and surer:)

Thanks, another question. Is there any requirement how much should be my wife's bank balance when she is applying to the FP?
She has been told that it must be at least 50k peso. Obviously I trust in her and I love her, but at the moment I would not be so happy to send 50k peso to her account since the £ peso exchange rate is the worst in years.............
I have send money to her account in the last 3 months since I have heard requirements around this. Normally I have sent her big money but more rarely. Thanks for your help and experience regarding this..

As far as my knowledge there is no requirement of certain bank balance only matter is EEA Person exercising treaty rights and genuine relationship.

My bank balance is stable in the Uk, her bank balance in the PHilippines didn't contain 50k since she wants to join me. My concern is the genuine of relationship. If her bank balance is not huge, I mean I didn't send huge money to her this time, only normal, then they might say, it is marriage of convenience or what?
Hope not. It is still a genuine relationship. According my oppinion.

They are not allowed to take someone's financial situation into account at all in the applicant for an EEA FP or EEA2. Are you married?

yes. We are married.

I didn't answer any financial questions on the online EEAFP and got the FP quickly (about 8 days if I remember correctly). The only thing financially related was my provision of a bank statement showing that we had a joint account. We recently received the RC which was issued in less than 3 months.

It is ok. How can I have a joint account with my wife, if she is still in the Philippines? I would have a joint account if I can have.

I don't think that the Bank will process the application without the applicant being present in the UK.

Then chaoclive your case is not applicable to us since I suppose you and your wife was in the same country.
I have no chance to make a joint account at the moment. It seems to be. So does that sort of financial things count for EEA FP application or not? In practice I don't care about the law, I know it doesn't but I am interested in the real life application. I have normal bank account balance, but I don't want to transfer big money to my wife's bank account in the Philippines since the rate is the worst in the recent years anyway.....

I have given you my answer above but since it is 'not applicable' I won't bother providing any more info on this thread.

Sorry man, I didn't want to be rude or anything like that. Please give me if you have any more information. I live without my wife and this is a quite desperate situation. But you were in living in the same country or not?

We can close this thread actually. My wife got her EU Family permit finally quite easily. She was so organised and prepared, she was able to show, that our relationship is genuine. These extra requirements like huge bank balance on the applicant side is none existent. I have provided that I am stable and I get a job and we are in a real relationship which last already for over 4 years. Plus I have bought my mother to the Philippines from Hungary to our marriage.....
Now I want to double check whether my wife can travel with me inside the Eu with her EEA Family permit. We want to visit Hungary. I think, she can, if she is travelling with me. She can travel with me with a simple EEA Family Permit, visa free. I hope so.
