Hi guys,
I submitted my application 17th Sept, 2014 and got confirmation 5th of November that my application has been assigned to a caseworker. Because its been months now, I decided to mail UKBA on the 31st of march telling them about my situation and how frustrated I am. UKBA officers( 2 of them) visited my flat on the 5th of March just to see if I am a genuine applicant, I was not home but they met my partner and my twin babies. And today, I got a letter the UKBA. Below is the content of the letter
Dear Mr xxxx
Thank you for your email dated 31st March, 2015.Please note that the Home office will endeavour to consider all applications within 6 months of receipt. Your application will therefore be considered by 20th April.
Just want to know if anyone has received any letter like this before? Not sure what my chances are, an unmarried partner application.
Thanks

Just ignores this letter and carry on waiting with hope. Normally caseworker ignore such emails but in your case they copy the same standard words which almost now everyone knows.

Hi,
they just delay the response and make "mistakes" to make your desist and force -to say so- leave the country.
At least it is my opinion.
If they have 6 months, they will send the response the last day.
Relax!
Have a nice day!

IMHO the visit and the letter are unrelated. the letter was simply a responce to your query about processing times /this is a typical letter people receive when they complain about how long it is taking
they do visit homes, but if they have met your family and kids you have together with your partner, this is hopefully a plus in your column (unless they decided your partner is not excercising treaty rights because of looking after the kids lol). more often than not they encounter closed doors -- they visit usually unannounced and during working hours
in cases i have seen, decision follows very shortly after the visit, usually in about 2 weeks -- even though visits are what often backs it up, as those tend to lag about 5 months or more - so once the case is singled out for a home visit, there is this delay. but once the visit is made, there is a decision shortly.
although none of this is an exact science
but IMHO unmarried partners in EEA aplications are often better off, as they usually have more evidence of cohabitation in teh first place, and also HO is obsessed with @marriages of convenience@, whereas @unmarried partnership of convenience@ is not a thing , as far as they are concerned
