Hi there guys.
my signature should tell you what my timeline is.

is this a good sign that they called us for interview ?
Also the letter address my fiance as my spouse and also says : I am writing to you concerning your clients application to confirm his right of residence on the basis of marriage / civil partnership .

We are not married ?
Is this just a standard letter ?

Also , I haven't seen many unmarried partners being called for interview. So what do you think.?
Obie please reply you have been really helpful and I need your input on this.
Thanks

I have heard of non married eea applications having to attend interviews as well, nothing uncommon there. Good luck, would be interesting to know what questions you were asked on the day.

Hi chriskv1,

I've been following your posts-wishing you the best and success. Hope everything goes well for you and your partner. I'm sure after the interview it should just be a matter of confirming the relationship and issuing the card. Btw, were you able to give notice for marriage at all-based on your previous posts? Maybe they refer to this? Or maybe this is just a default template they sent?

Btw, given that you and your partner are co-habiting less than 2 years, how did you provide supporting documents? Did you have joint accounts as well/references from friends and family? I'm waiting for a bit more time to send my application in for this reason.

All the Best,
asian_atheart

@wegiwegi: Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be too bad. We are looking forward to it actually. Lets see what happens.

@asian_atheart : I didn't give notice for marriage yet , Giving notice for marriage is not a problem as far as I know. Its the actual marriage that they tend to interrupt . But then again when you have an application pending and when you are a genuine couple , they can't do much can they . Anything they do against genuine cases is just an abuse of their powers.

And according to my lawyer the letter is just a default template .

I just gave them everything I had , My bank statement , Utility bills , I had one month statement of a joint account that I sent with the application , Photos together. Also on the additional questionnaire that they send me , I told them about how we got engaged after the application was submitted. How we met , Our plans together .etc

we plan to take reference letters from friends and family when we go to the interview . All I did was just provide any and all documents that I can and be as open as I could.

Thanks for your wishes :) I need a lot of luck and it means a lot :D . And waiting a bit more is fine as long as you think you can provide more documents , But IMHO , just submit your application if you have been together atleast 18 months . It should be fine.

Hopefully it turns out well. I will let you guys know what happens. :D

Hi chriskv1,

Thanks so much for your advice. Yes we have been gathering all documentation in any case for this very reason. We have been together over 3 years but by September we will have completed 2 years of joint tenancy, joint bank accounts. We have also travelled to each others' countries and met our families so we should not have any trouble proving this-just a matter of timing it well.
Its so strange though looking at everyone's timeline and seeing how long the applications are taking from the start of 2015! Were you also on a student visa before applying via EEA?

All the best and hoping for good news for you!

Yes I was on a student visa as well. Which expired right before I applied.

And your case seems strong so not to worry it will all be fine.

Posting updates here since many are viewing the thread and not replying .
Will be helpful for future members as well :)

Finished our interview yesterday . Everything went okay I guess. 99 % of our answers matched except one. Her engagement ring had a writing which said I promise and I slipped and said it says I love you ( This was because when I was buying the engagement ring there was another one the exact same way that said I love you and it slipped my mind :/)

He checked my passport and gave it back to me at the end of the interview even though I had no valid leave to remain.

He said our story is extraordinary.
Also there were several threats towards us in the beginning. He said : My friends downstairs can arrest you right now since you are here . And I said in the exact same words : These carnal things don't really matter to me . You can reject it and arrest me if you want but that's not going to split me and my fiance up. We would go back to my home country and I will return once we are Married.

the interview ended by him walking with me to my girlfriendand saying : The interview is finished you both are free to leave now.

Hi chriskv1,

Sorry that the interview was so unfair! They are trying to intimidate on purpose i guess. The important thins is to stay strong and not let the whole process affect you both. I hope that it all works out. I'm sure you will be fine and the card will come through!! All the best and keep us posted.

you perform really good probably you were already know that it never happened with anyone before at interview time along EU national. But you should keep in mind that its possible because unmarried partner is not yet classified as EU national family member and they have a lot of loopholes ranging from silliest to cleverest level.

Yeah that's the thing . Im sure if me and my girlfriend were married they wouldn't have made much trouble . But we didn't want to get married right away .We are engaged but we wanted to wait till she finished her studies . I'll update you guys on what happens.
