Experience: free Schengen visas for EEA family members

I want to share a story regarding the issue of free schengen (Finnish) visas for family members other than spouses (parents, children and the like).
We applied for a finish visa by submitting copies of my passport, evidence of relations and the decision of the FTT issued in UK confirming dependence of my parents (Russian citizens) on me (EEA citizen). I expected a request for a registration certificate to demonstrate this dependence but above was sufficient. I am not sure whether this is an isolated leniency or above approach is universally acceptable. visa was free
just n case if anyone considers applying for one
