EEA national getting a British passport

Hi my husband is an EEA national and I have a residence hard..we are both filing for my mother but my husbands wants to apply for his British passport..in doing this will it affect the filing for my mother? Would it be more difficult to file for her...would she have to leave England for us to file for her now that he's a British citizen?
