Hello all,

submitted EEA3 application to Home Office Monday 13th July.
received e-mail confirmation Friday 17th July.
got home today with EEA3 residence card Wednesday 29th July
card was acctually issued Monday 27 July
(almost 10 days!!! that was fast)

However... I somehow got a dark blue paper EEA3 card, instead of a plastic (credit card format) card.

Is that normal? and where can I apply for that?

Thanks for all the help and advise. :)

That is what you get. The blue paper thing.

Why do you desire the plastic credit card type thing? Does that give you some extra privileges? Are you allergic to paper?

I`m happy you find my question amusing. I had a serious (non-allergic but practical) reason for the question. Paper wears and tears within a few months (even with moderate use)... and the plastic thingy is more durable and fits into any wallet or cellphone wallet along with credit card and driving licence

I completely agree with you. However, you very rarely have to take it out of archived documents. You already have an EU passport/ID card and won't be asked to prove your residency rights. However, you may observe that EEA4 is plastic. I believe this is there for a reason, since, we non-EEA nationals need to prove our status at every single stage of our stay in the UK and we need a bit more durable documentation to sustain the hassle.

Above everything else, I wish you a hearty congratulations for getting your EEA3.
