My wife is an Eea national and working since August 2010. This August 2015 her 5 year period is completed. And now she is going to apply for PR this month. Does she still need to work to be qualify for PR and eventually for BC after another year?

She does't. If she is sure she will get PR she can stop working and do whatever she wants.

Please don't just stop working except for good reason as it's keeps you active, and useful in the society.

Wise, with respect, I don't believe this was the advice the OP was looking for. Whether his wife continues to work or not is a matter of personal choice.

Casa, why don't you create a new thread under CLAIMING BENEFIT and you alone can carry on advice people to work till they get PR and stop when they've gotten it.

Why on earth would I do that? It's not my place as a moderator to tell members whether they should stop working or not after gaining PR! Employment isn't the only way someone can be active and 'useful in the society'!

Fine if you know that. Do you not think that many people stop working as soon as they secured PR and like you said it's there choice, but don't you think also that's the reason why the UK government is trying to change policy and applications forms all the time is related to this.

Wise you should understand that not all people need to claim benefits (if this is your concern) if they are no longer working once they are granted PR. Many are supported by spouses or have sufficient finance to be self-supporting. To be honest, I fail to see your insistence on the continuance of employment after PR! The Government have shown no intention to insist on continued employment for PR holders once they are no longer under Immigration control.

Casa really, are you saying if everyone is like that do you not think that UK will not be hash on EEA applications. Beside how many people do know that get PR and rely on what you've mentioned, the answer will be none.

Instead of you to give your own opinion on what the question is all about you keep saying thing that doesn't make sense all in my view.

So you honestly believe that no PR holders are self-sufficient with no need to rely on benefits? When a PR or ILR holder is no longer under Immigration control there can be no legal insistence on continuing employment.

Thanks all of you for kind advise and input. But I think it's unwise to argue without knowing complete picture of the situation and intention.... Anyways you guys have been helpful. Thanks again.

I don't care to know your immigration status and also having no concern about claiming benefit if you need to, rather than abusing the system, but i can tell you that you don't understand the technicality within immigration rules at all. Many of us in the forum has being through a lot of stress and paying a lot to the HO still in the end we're able to secure residency, those people will give you true experience in dealing with HO and not just reading polices only like you always do (Casa).

As you may aware that to be British is not by right and if tomorrow the policy change that you must work till you will be able to make application for BC, many people will never ask such question like OP have asked. I am a working person and i strongly believed that people on benefit will never ever better than me anyway, that's the reason why i will never advice anyone to join the path.

CASA READ WHAT THE OP HAS TO SAY. THERE'S NO CONCRETE REASON.
