Question about sponsor's passport in EEA FP application

Hi all,
My wife (non EU) and I (EU) are currently taking the Surinder Singh route, and are about to apply for the Family Permit. My current work requires me to travel internationally a few times a month, so it'd be quite inconvenient to lose my passport for two or three weeks whilst the family permit decision is made.
According to this link: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... permit.pdf the following a permissible in order to provide the sponsor's nationality (i.e., me):
'Evidence of your sponsor’s nationality This could be copies of:
* bio-data pages from their passport
* their national identity document
* their residence permit '
My question is this, is it possible to submit just a photocopy of the bio-date page of my passport, and would this suffice as evidence? Has anyone successfully applied for a Family Permit without submitting the sponsor's actual passport?
