Hi all,

Having read through the Gov.uk website and a lot of this forum I am getting a little confused about the process/forms (I think because the names have changed over the years)

PROCESS:

1. VAF5 for the EEA family permit (6-month visa to enter the UK)

2. Once in the UK apply for residence card with the EEA FM.

3. After 5-years apply for permanent residence? With what form?

Hopefully someone can inform/enlighten me! :)

Note

3) PR is not 'applied for' it is automatically acquired by a qualified person exercising treaty rights (in UK) continuously for 5 years.

Applying for a PR card (which confirms someone has acquired PR) is optional.

Many thanks for your replies!

If permanent residence is acquired after 5 years, is the UK residence card acquired in the same way after an initial successful EEA permit application?
