urgent help

hi all

i came back from ireland with my family ( EEA family permit ) on surinder singh route in Aug 2015,

last month my wife got some problem so she been in hospital for 2 days.

now recived a letter from hospital that she have to bring documents long list of documents other wise she will be chargeing on high rate.


i am not sure about the helth insurance apply to the family member of EEA.....?


any link from home office site that i can show it to them please ????

What documents have been requested? Have you got them?
If operating via SS route are you British?
Does your wife have a RC or COA (yet)

No sickness insurance.... :(

yes i m british.....

i applied form my wife EEA permit form dublin....which is valid for 6 month and will be applying for 5 year RC soon.

they are asking for bank statement, marriage certificate, employment documents, pay slips....utility bills.....tenency agreement and so on....

i cheak to documents list for RC not asking for insurance... which is i think 200 per year....even they did asked in dublin when i applied for visa.


i think i seen some where that EEA family permit holider is exampt form health inurance but could find out the link now

If you are back in UK after SS then you do not have to exercise treaty rights in UK (case law of Eind).
And your dependent family member (spouse) just needs to live here with you ie no need to exercise treaty rights.
So afaik there should be no need for health insurance whatsoever.

Well if NHS people aren't aware about such matters you may still have to explain it to them (or show some documents).

yes thats why i am looking for link to print and show it to them.

by the time i recived a letter my wife been to hospital again. and if they charge me for that will have to pay 150% of the normal charges and was thinking to rum away from UK.... :(

as i was away from uk for a While i was not fully aware about that changes in the immigration.

i have apointment with them on friday 16th Oct and will post the out come of the issue when i come back might be helpfull for more user....if they face the samilar kind of statuation with NHS.

The EEA family permit that she has is sufficient .

Going into details of your status as a migrant worker who returned home, may confuse them.
