Rights to ILR if working abroad

Hi All,
I am a non-Eu married to Eu national, i have RC expires jun 2017 , i have full time job 20k and my wife is self employed as a childminder and accessories craft.
I got a job offer to work in KSA with American company , i will be working 35 day on and 35 days unpayed off.
i will be going back and forth to retain my Residency status.
Will this change affect my chances to get my ILR ? am i better off working in UK full time rather than having overseas job?
I know this is immigration site but i thought maybe someone can help me with some advice
