Good day,

My wife recently received her EEA FP (valid 6 months) and I am a little lost now as to what our next step should be considering I want her to stay here with me more than 6 months. I understand we apply for a residence card, right? What is the next step?

Does she need to give her passport? How long will they keep her passport? The job she is applying for needs her to travel abroad weekly and we were thinking how long will the government have her passport.

Please, any help and assistance is greatly appreciated.

Yes, shoot for RC next.
Passport required.

RC processing can take some months; you can track other members' experiences in the relevant timeline thread.

Passport required.

RC processing can take some months; you can track other members' experiences in the relevant timeline thread.

Ah thank you for clarifying, it is appreciated. I've looked at the timeline thread. Getting a CoA would be a rather easier step, right? Or can I do RC and CoA at the same time? How long does a CoA last?

And RC is the EEA2, right?

A COA is issued automatically as an interim document whilst RC application is processed.

One does not apply for a COA by itself.
Once issued the RC will replace the COA.

I'm not too familiar with the old names but RC is next step.

Thanks for clarifying. From my understanding, it takes a month or so to receive the COA, yes? And can you travel with COA? I guess not.

EDIT: Will they give back the passport sooner? EDIT2: The RC is a stamp I believe so I'll get they passport back after approval - right?

A COA is not a travel document.

You can review documents required for RC to determine if you can submit any alternative to passport for id. Eg a national ID card.

Alternately, some members have reported success with enclosing a letter with their application, requesting the passport is returned asap.
(Your mileage may vary ofcourse).

Note RC is issued as a standalone BRP-type card.

Good day,

May I ask whether it would be alright, after receiving the COA, to reapply for another EEA Family Permit as my wife's permit is about to expire? She does have to travel from one place to another as a cabin crew.

Any help is very much appreciated.
