I am an EEA member (from Spain)me and my wife are moving to the UK she is mexican, and we are going to apply for her family permit, we have all the required documents, however we recently found out that me, as her EEA family member have to be in the UK under the treaty rights. I haven"t live in the UK before and we are moving together.

How do I prove my treaty rights if I am not there yet? when I get there, I would be a job seeker and then work for a company but I dont have any proof of that yet.

I am confused if the first 3 months I am under the rights of residence and that is enough to apply for the family permit or, do I need to prove treat rights? If I need to prove treaty rights I would be a job seeker or a self sufficient?

Hi, my name is Roberto and I am from Spain. Me and my mexican wife have decided to move to the UK, I've already investigated about all the documents we need for her family permit, however we recently read that we may need a health insurance prior to our arrival to the UK, I've read and read and it seems that this health insurance is required only if I am self sufficient.

Does this means that if I arrive in the UK and start searching a job I won't need a health insurance as I am exercizing my treaty of righths as a job seeker?

As far as I am concerned all that was needed for the family permit was passport, proof of our marriage, application form, passport photography and accomodation.

Do we need a health insurance in order to obtain her family permit?

You do not have to exercise treaty rights from day one.
You have up to 3 months to get settled into UK & adapt to our cultures & traditions.

The FP will grant your wife entry into UK.

Once you as sponsor/spouse start exercising treaty rights in UK, (for example by working), your wife can apply for a residence card. The RC confirms her rights to reside, work, study etc.

You don't need full health insurance (CSI) if you plan to be a worker/self-employed or a jobseeker - although travel insurance for travellers might be wise in the usual way,
Once established in UK, CSI is only needed for students & self-sufficient people.

Note there are now time limits on how long someone can be a jobseeker before moving into another category (such as worker).

When we get there, we are planning to stay in a hotel untill we find an apartment we can rent, is the hotel confirmation number acceptable as proof of accomodation?

Well the guidance says "might" (not "must")...

You might want to submit any of the following documents to provide us with evidence of your accommodation. This information might also be useful in showing us that your sponsor lives in the UK. We advise that you do not make any payments for accommodation, travel and so on until you have received your visa.
