12 months maternity leave & treaty rights/PR

Sorry for hijacking a topic but I have I think related question...
Dose full 12 month maternity leave counts towards qualifying period from the PR point of view? My wife was off work (but still employed by the same company and receiving pay) for full 12 months and then she came back to work full time after.
Would that be ok? from any other perspective (holidays etc) she was categorized as employee.
