Advice needed EU Slovak national settling in the UK

OK, so this Brexit thing has freaked me out.

However, I want to tackle this head on and avoid any problems about remaining to live and work here in future.

I am from Slovakia in the EU and have worked here since April 2011. My daughter currently 8yo has been here since August 2012 and in school here in the UK.

I want to start the process to have the right to live in the UK and am not sure whether to apply for a permanent residency permit, apply for British Citizenship or is there an alternative?

I'm unsure about this so any help guidance advice would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

S

Have you been working since you arrived? If yes, you should apply for a document certifying permanent residence first. You need this before you can apply for British citizenship.

Remember that Slovakia does not permit dual nationality.

Form EEA (PR).

You also need 5 years residency in UK, so you can apply around now (having served 5 years);
- assumng you haven't enjoyed any prolonged absences from UK.

Daughter, your direct family member, will have to wait until 2017 to acquire PR; (you are her sponsor).

You could get daughter a RC in meantime; form EEA(FM).
Its optional but it could be useful if UK brings in any transitional arrangements for Union citizens.
