residence card processing time and asking for document back

Hi,

My wife has sent her residence card application in March. She got her biometric done and her acknowledgement letter in April.

If she request her document back now, will this affect the processing time of the application ?

Is it ok to request them in a month?

Thanks

Hi alex1128
Thanks for the reply,

I guess they would tell me if it affected the application as it states on the gov website (https://www.gov.uk/visa-documents-returned) :
You might have to cancel your application - you’ll be told if you have to do this when you ask for your documents back.
right ?

I just want to be sure as I will request as soon as possible

Thanks

As long as you don't tick the cancel application request you are good to get ur Documents back. I believe you are able to ask them back a month after your application has been received.

I was going to request my document back but on the last confirmation page it states :
I understand that:
- ...
- if I ask for documents back, the application may take longer to process;
- ...
Anybody could confirm that this should not be a concern ?

Thanks

Hi,

As far as I know it shouldn't delay the application (but maybe someone of more experience in this could confirm).

From experience though, they are taking very long time to return passports. My partner (non-EEA family member) applied similar time as you (March), he asked for his passport back on 2 June via the HO website 'request documents' form (supposedly takes 10 w days), after 12 w days he filled in the 'documents not received' form, it's now 28 June and he still hasn't received his passport and hasn't had any comms from the HO as to whether they intend to return it.

In short, if you need it in a month, request as soon as possible.

Anna

That's just another evil trick from the HO to atress the hell out of you !!
It will not delay your application, they have to give you an naswer within 6 months by LAW !

I have sent my application in mid May and received the confirmation of my status today, so 3 months more or less. Requested my passport back after about 10 weeks. Not to worry about the letter.

Sorry, but how do they send the passports back? In ordinary envelope second class?
I understand that I need to include a special delivery large A4 envelope for all the documents for sending them back, but did you guys also include a small envelope for passport only?
