EEA(QP) worker or student?

I have previously posted a couple of questions here about obtaining applying for PR. For a number of reasons I'm not completely sure that I qualify yet, so, I thought it would make sense to apply for EEA(QP) now, to give me more time to compile all the evidence needed for a PR application.

I'm a postgraduate student, but also work part-time at the university as a teaching assistant. At the moment my part-time work would not be sufficient for me to qualify as a worker, but my hours will go up after the summer to the extent the work might be considered 'genuine and meaningful employment'. I had planned to apply for EEA(QP) now as a student (I have CSI & would meet all the criteria), but I'm concerned that come Brexit, the government may distinguish between EU workers and students living in the UK.

I know this is all hypothetical, but I was just wondering if people feel it's better to apply for EEA(QP) as soon as possible (as a student) or wait until December (once I have 3 months of pay slips) and try to obtain QP status as a worker?

Suggest apply asap. Transitional arrangements may depend on holding EU docs by a certain cutoff date.

Get it in the bag. After all, a DCPR in the hand is worth two in the bush (as my old aunty used to say).

Cheers for the response. Putting all my documents together just now and hoping to send it all off on Monday :).
