EEA(FM) Biometrics taken from prior application?

Hi there,
Does anyone have any experience if biometrics are needed for an EEA(FM) application for a non-EEA partner, if the fingerprints have already been taken as part of an (still valid) EEA Family Permit?
Or do they request them in any case just to double check it's the same person?
