EEA PR Section 5 Question

Hello everyone

The wife and I are filling out the EEA PR form to renew our EEA FP. She is Japanese, myself Irish. In Section 5 - Residence in the UK and previous EEA documentation, they ask: 5.3 Have you (or has your sponsor, if applicable) had any absences from the UK since you/they entered?

The previous EEA 4 was quite clear here and stated it should only cover absences during the 5 year qualifying period. This new form isn't so clear. Surely they don't want to know about every absence (holiday) I have had since I arrived in the UK in 1987? That cannot be a reasonable ask of a person or indeed relevant. So my thinking here is that they must mean absences only during the past years (the qualifying period).

What do others think?

Thanks

The point is:
1) you may not know your qualifying period;
the caseworker determines that based on your info and evidence.

And
2) if you have acquired PR you need to show/prove you haven't lost it again due to subsequent absence.

So you can see its not just about the qualifying 5 years nor simply the last 5 years.
