Applying for eea2-non EEA passport expires soon

Hello
I am non EEA family member of EU citizen. I am about to apply for eea2 but my passport expires end of next month.i want to make the application asap and maybe request for return if passport for renewal. Is it possible? Can they refuse my application because my passport expires soon?

submit it as it is and make a copy of it, take that to your Consulate for renewer if that's acceptable then as soon as new one is issued you can send it to the HO via post with reference to your case ID.
I don't think they will refuse you because your passport is expired while your application is with the HO.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. But unfortunately i must have to submit my passport(not a copy of it) to my consulate for renewal.do u think i could request for return and when please.

The earlier you submit your application the better so that you can quickly request for it back with a letter to the Home Office when is expired and at least you will have paid and received an email to acknowledge your application, then you can now do the renewal and sent it back immediately with your case ID number and I think before any caseworker work on your case you new passport would have been issued I supposed if your consulate can issue it within 3 month.
However, If I were you I may paid for the quick option of getting the renewal as it's important otherwise Home Office might issue you RC on A4 paper.
