Who is this FP for?
A Union citizen (including Italian) does not need a Family Permit to come to UK. Just get on a plane.

If the FP is for you (non-EEA?) where will you be going?

EEA Family Permit is valid for 6 months. You can leave and enter the UK as many times as you need within that time.

No you do need a FP. You confused the issue by only mentioning details for wife.

I assume that the Case Worker will expect you to live with your wife who is sponsoring your EEA Family Permit.
