Hi,

I am an EU citizen working in the UK. I am sponsoring my girlfriend (non EU) who is currently working in the UK too (EEA family permit - unmarried couple).

My employer wants me to work outside of the UK for a few months (at least). Would this affect my girlfriend's right to stay and work in the UK on her own? If so how long can I spend outside the UK without affecting her visa?

Have you already acquired PR?

If no;
Absence of six months per year from the UK is allowed. You are also allowed a one year absence for exceptional reasons (pregnancy, military service, etc). I doubt work is considered an exceptional reason though.

If yes;
Absence of two years from the UK is allowed.

thank you very much for your quick answer. I do not have a PR but 6 month should be long enough. Do I need to declare this as a change of circumstance or not?
