Traveling to UK with an EU residence permit?

Hi everyone,

I have a major question that I hope you can help me with!!!

I'm a Mexican citizen living in the Netherlands (I have a valid residence permit for 3 years long) and I've been traveling to UK several times (for short stays) since the beginning of October (mainly since my boyfriend is British). However, I'll need to travel to UK (now for work reasons) in the beginning of April and according to my citizenship, I'm allowed to travel to UK only for a free 6-months period (and I'll run out it when I need to travel again in April). My questions are, Do I need to apply for a visa in order to travel in April? or Does my dutch residence permit help me in this case? I'm really worried since I've to book everything to that trip.

Thank you so much in advance!!!!!!!

On what basis have you been entering UK? Visafree?

As a visitor you cannot work in UK.
And a Dutch permit (RC?) doesn't help you work or even reside in UK.

If coming for work your employer needs to do right thing and invest in a visa.

Thank you for your fast reply, noajthan.

-I guess I have been entering UK based on my dutch residence permit (That is also my question. Is it plausible traveling only with my RC as a visitor without requiring a visa?). I am carrying my passport and my dutch RC all the time (and they only check the residence card and seal my passport) so I am not totally sure.

- Sorry, I should specify this: by saying "working reasons" I meant to attend a business conference for a few days as part of my job (but not work or reside in UK).

Thank you again!

You can only enter UK utilising a.n.other memberstate's Article 10 card if accompanied by or meeting your EU sponsor.
Who is that?
Where is your sponsor?
Is it british bf? how is he your sponsor?

For work you will need a business visa or, in limited circumstances (no work allowed), a UK visit visa.
