Eu treaty rights

Hello

I'm very new to forums in general so please forgive and guide me to right path if i have wrote this in the wrong area.

I'm a little bit concerned since my wife (us citizen) and myself (uk citizen) wish to settle in Ireland.
We don't live together yet since obviously we are different countries.

I was wondering about more about this article 50 which is supposedly being applied march 2017?
Once this article is applied does that mean i'm most likely going to lose the possibility of being able to settle in Ireland or does this mean its just the start and nothing will happen until England completely comes out of Europe?

I don't mind going to live in USA but she really wants to be in Europe and i feel its a good idea to just follow her wishes and make her happy.

Thanks so much in advance and again i'm really sorry if I've posted this in the wrong area but i'm very new to this.

Thanks again

Welcome.

Topic moved to correct forum: EEA.

EU rights remain in place until UK actually leaves EU - in 2019 or whenever that may be.
Article 50 is just the start of what is likely to be a long drawn out affair.

If starting out on your migration adventure be aware there probably won't be time to acquire PR in the 'normal way' (especially after spending an initial year or so in Eire) as it takes 5 years to acquire the holygrail of PR status.
The end game will depend on whatever transitional arrangements may or may not be put in place; all yet TBD as part of Article 50 ramifications and negotiations.
