My boyfriend lives in the UK and he is a Polish citizen, hes currently resident of the UK and is studying and working which he is exercising treaty rights. I am a non-EU citizen and live in America, I just had a couple of questions if you gusy could help be great :D

I saw something about EEA visa is no longer available to extended family, such as fiance? Is this true? Also, would he have to be making 18500 a year or is that not for EEa citizens? If the extended family not available, is the only option through marriage and if we marry how long would be a reasonable time to wait before applying for the EEA permit?

Sorry for the many questions, Just any information on these would be greatly appreciated :)

Some thoughts;

1. No earning requirements for EEA route

2. Need to be married based the info you've given.

3. He'd need to have held or hold CSI

To meet requirements on EU unmarried route you would have to demonstrate you have enjoyed a durable relationship akin to marriage for 2 years (or more).

We've been together for 2 years, though considering that we have not been living together; what would qualify as "akin to marriage"?

That's more like penpal and penpal, need to be able to show real commitment, like man and wife.

We do not have children together and fiance's. I suppose that marriage seems the only possible route here? How long should one wait after getting married to apply or is it alright to apply straight away? We want to get married here in US though we're weighing our options here and there.

Also, how long does it take to process these applications for a spouse?

If the Unmarried Visa is out of the question due to not having lived together, would there be any other options you guys would recommend?
