My brother was on holiday to UK on visiting visa and a week to his departure to our home country, he was detained on Section 2 and later move on to section 3 of the Mental Health Act was unable to return home because he suffered from bipolar disorder. Presently, his visiting visa has expired and still at hospital. I do not want him to go back to our home country because he has no one to look after him and I'm an Italian national living in the UK with my immediate family.

Can you advise on how to go about this please?

You can apply for a residence card for him

How can I do it? He came in as an independent visitor.

Who is responsible for his upkeep at the hospital?do you give him funds for his upkeep?
