EEA-SS?

Hi
I was born in England and lived there until I was a teenager (in 2001)when my family came to live in Ireland. I now have an Irish passport. My husband (married in 2010)is Non Eu.
We have 2 Irish born children and I would like to return to England with my Family.
As I have dual nationality I am unsure of the best way to apply?
I have finished school, been to college and worked in Ireland. My Husband is working now while I take care of our small children.
I would like to know with a S.S application if I would need to be working at the time of the application? Are we even entitled to apply under S.S? Or could I apply as a EEA Family permit without giving up my British citizenship?
