What is next after EEA family permit?

Hello everyone need an advice on what do next after this EEA family permit.
I am the Non EEA national and i will entering the Uk on december on an EEA FP. I would like to immediately take the next step and not waste any time once i arrive. Should i get the Residence card? What is a COA? What is best next thing to so?
