Hi guys,

I got back into the UK yesterday after traveling and I was told by the boarder office that I can't work while waiting for EEA2. I showed him my COA with the right to work, however he insisted that I can only accept job offer while waiting. Can anyone advise me?

Also do I need to apply NIN in order to get a job or I can apply NIN after starting my job?

Thanks and regards.

You can apply for NiN even now and CoA is in the list B of most of the companies as proof to right to work.

On what basis did you apply for a residence card? If you applied as an extended family member and did not have a visa at the time of application, the IO is right - you cannot yet work. If you had a visa, then the matter is debatable. Finally, if you are married to an EEA national who is exercising treaty rights, or has achieved permanent residence, you are legally permitted to work. On what basis were you admitted to the UK?
