EEA FP successful, now working, but paying crazy amounts of tax

Hi there, I hope this is the right forum, since I didn't find a more suitable section.
My wife is working on an EEA family permit.

Here is what happened:

1. month pay: tax code OT -> full 20% tax; tax free allowance not recognised
2. month pay: tax code 1035N/1 --> still high tax payment and no refund of tax paid in month 1

Comment to month 2.: when previously in the UK I was the sole earner and she transferred marriage allowance to me. However, this situation is reverse now, since I'm a student. We already applied for a change in marriage allowance.

How can she get she money back? Why doesn't the tax free allowance apply to her?

Thanks a lot for you help.

All the best

Nothing to do with immigration, suggest you speak to the employer.

The employer referred to HRMC. Checking with HRMC (website) it says that ****/1 tax codes are given to people who will be in the country for less than one year. This is what her visa type (6 months) infers.

I'd like to hear about similar experiences and how the situation was handled in these cases. :)
