PR LOST DOCUMENTS
Posted: Tue Jun 05, 2018 2:26 pm
Dear all,
On 25th of December 2017 i've made my Permanent Residency application (EEA-route).
My application was very simple (5 years of p60's). After almost 6 months of not receiving any updates, i called UKVI asking for an update.
They came back saying that on 8th of February 2018, a parcel was sent from the UKVI with my documents + decision and they provided me with a tracking number with royal mail.
My adventure just started.
I never received anything from them. So i called Royal Mail regarding this and they told me that they could not locate this tracking number on their system. They advised me to talk again with the UKVI in case they had a typo.
UKVI told me that this is the correct tracking number and they can see on their system that the parcel is sent.
I called royal mail again and they told me that the tracking number is already paid from UKVI but they haven't collected a parcel from them as they don't have a signature in their system for that tracking number. They told me that people are pre-paying for a delivery (this is when a tracking number is generated) but then they have to call royalmail and arrange a collection. In this case there was no collection and if UKVI has a problem they should call them directly to liaise with them.
UKVI told me that they can see on their system that the parcel is sent and that they are going to escalate the issue with their managers to see what can be done.
Imagine that this communication didn't happen from a day to another. For the past 2 weeks almost i am calling almost everyday for a resolution.
NOBODY CAN TELL ME WHERE MY ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS ARE.
It's now very frustrating, i would appreciate any advise.
The problem is the following:
UKVI has a service line agreement for 6 months. You can't get an update 6 months before your application. When they sent out the parcel + decision THEY DO NOT INFORM YOU WITH AN EMAIL + TRACKING NUMBER that a parcel is sent. Therefore if they sent the decision early and something happens to your parcel you will not be able to find about it during the ROYAL MAIL service line agreement that they can investigate a possible loss which is 80 days. Therefore you can't do literally NOTHING about it.
By the way. They told me that at least we have some good news that your application was approved and that i got the permanent residency. But now i don't have the card and i don't have the original documents. AFAIK there is no replacement process for the permanent residency card and the only way forward is to redo the application from scratch. But guess what. They lost my original documents so it's going to be a huge pain to collect all of these again.
