EEA (FM) and traveling with/without spouse

Hi,
I (Indian national) have applied for an EEA (FM) Residence Card and should hopefully receive it before I go on holiday to Berlin with my husband (Irish national working in the UK). As I understand, I will not require a Schengen visa since I will be traveling with him when I enter Germany. My husband will return to the UK in a week while I will stay on in Germany for an additional week. Would this be a problem? Will they ask to see our return tickets when we enter Berlin? Should I apply for a Schengen visa as I will not be traveling with him for the entire duration?
