About to apply for PR under Surinder Singh. When should I count my 5 yrs residence from? From date of arrival back in UK from EU state, or from the date on Residence Card?

In law, from the date of arrival, but in practice the earliest date that you can prove that you were in the UK. This assumes that you were covered by the EEA Regulations from when you arrived. Note that breaks in your spouse's employment may affect whether you were covered by the regulations.

There were changes a couple of years ago, see the posts by vinny and links provided from 29 November 2016 onwards.

Does anyone know what happens to people that arrived in the UK in 2014 via Surrinder Singh?

Do they need to show the British person was qualified from 2014 or just from November 2016?

My wife has been a stay at home mom since 2014, I have been working the whole time ive been here.

Pls someone.

If the RC was issued before 25 Nov 2016, then only need to show the British citizen is a qualified person since that dat.

Hi
I am in the same situation ,
Wifey has been a housewife since we got in the uk about 4 years ago . I have been employed the whole time though and only got private medical insurance through my work from March 2017.
Our 02 British kids ( born in the uk ) don’t have insurance.
We have been claiming tax credits and child benifts .
We also have a mortgage.
I wonder how self sufficiency will be handled on my case
?

Hi there, if the residence card was issued before November 2016 does that mean the British citizen does not need to show that they are a qualifying person and will be treated under the old regulations?
