Hello,

I am in the process of making an application for my permanent residence as an unmarried partner of an EEA QP. I am aware that home office normally issue short COA to residence card applications from unmarried partner. Do they also issue short COA for Permanent residence applications for unmarried partners that currently have the right to work? I am currently working and now concerned that a short COA would mean I loose my job.

Could someone please advice.

Since you are applying for a permanent residence card, I can only gather that you now have a EFM Residence Card (otherwise you are not eligible to apply for permanent residence on the basis of your EEA partner).

As far as I know, an application for a permanent residence card does not invalidate your current residence card (but someone please correct me if I'm wrong), and you can always request the return of your current residence card while your application for permanent residence is considered, so you keep your right to work throughout the process.

I don't see the problem here... unless your current card is due to expire before you are issued with the permanent residence card, in which case you will have a gap without the right to work.
