PR Card Renewal due in 2019

Hello,

The PR card (stamped on the passport) of Mrs H, a non EU national, is expiring next year. She obtained the PR via the EEA route as the wife of an EU national. Mrs H was not absent for more than 2 years and she still has the card stamped on a now expired passport. Since obtaining the PR card her husband has obtained the UK citizenship and he has retained his original EU citizenship.

The question is: should Mrs H request a replacement card / do anything before the card expires?

Thanks!

PR = Permanent Residence - it doesn't expire/lapse, unless you are away for 2 or more years.
What is the wording of the stamp?

10 Aug 19

Place of Issue, Date of Issue
Liverpool, 10 Aug 09

Type of Document
Permanent Residence Card

Remarks:
No restrictions on holder's activity in the UK

Many thanks!

This is the card expiry - PR doesn't expire. You can apply for a new card.
Probably it's worth waiting until the new "settled status" system is available (later this year?) then you can go straight to that as by 10 Aug 2019 you cannot apply for a new PR card (under EU rules).

Many thanks. For information what is the procedure to request a new card?

Also do I understand correctly that a new card can be requested only when it is expired?

Finally would the immigration officers accept a an expired card and grant entry on the basis that the status does not expire?

Thanks

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... orm-eea-pr
Quote from website:
You can use form EEA (PR) to apply for, replace or renew a document certifying permanent residence or a permanent residence card.

can't answer that - anyone else?

I guess he would if you had documentary evidence to prove your status
Thanks
best to go with new status when available

Thank you. Sounds like the best option is to wait closer to the expiry date.

Many thanks

Hello,

Is there a new procedure to get a new permanent residency card?

OK, now I think that I understand.
My wife will need to apply under the new settled status scheme after the 29th of March (as she does not have a biometric card she cannot apply earlier).
During this time I have also acquired British citizenship but I will still be able to sponsor her under the new scheme.

Am I correct?

We actually applied and she was granted the status - we are now waiting to receive her biometric card.

Many thanks!
