Hello, I am new to this board so please bear with me .

I am a British citizen . For the past three and a half years I have been living in Germany with my Afghan national husband . Initially his asylum application was under consideration and hence he was given a 6 months temporary permit which allowed him to stay and work in Germany .
My daughter was born there in 2017. My husband got a job with annual salary of 25000 euros . As soon as he was offered the job the office dealin with work and benefits informed the visa office there and they granted my husband a Residence card of a family member of Union citizen . The card expires in June 2019 and has to be renewed . It was granted of the basis of my self sufficiency. When husband started job, and as is compulsory in Germany , he started paying for health insurance from his income directly to the health insurance company. Me and my daughter are covered under his insurance policy.
I want to know whether I can use Surinder Singh route to apply for husband’s permit on the basis of my self sufficiency
My questions are
Does Surinder Singh route accepts self sufficiency as a treaty right ? It didn’t in 2016 I know because we applied and we were refused the permit
2- As we were covered under his health insurance policy does it satisfies the definition of comprehensive health insurance ?
3- he is allowed to travel to uk with his german issued residence card without the need to apply for Eea permit. Is it a good idea to apply for a permit there or go straight to Uk and apply for a residence card ?
I don’t want to leave everything here and go to uk , make an application only to be asked for further information to support the application. .then my husband might not be allowed back in germany . That is because we both need to be in Germany to be able to apply for renewal of his residence card

He should have been given a 5 year residence card in Germnay but for some reason they decided to grant him a 2 year card

Please advice

This is difficult to answer without seeing the policy - you'll need a lawyer consultation.

You can apply for the FP via SS from Germany.

SS applications are complicated - strongly suggest you consult a lawyer, especially given you've already been refused before.

@Anammk unfortunately I can not answer your question instead I do have a question.

I hope you will help me as you mentioned in your post that you have been living in Germany as self sufficient. Please what are the requirement for an eu citizen to exercise treaty as self sufficient?

How much money did you have in your account and what are the other things to be provided?

I'm sorry I can't answer your question but I do hope you will be able to answer mine.

Thanks and I wish you the very best
