EEA Permanent Residency - Online form qualifying period

Hi all,

I am in the process of completing my application for permanent residency as an EEA national with the purpose of then applying for citizenship. I have started the application using the online form, and but I am not sure how to specify the qualifying period. The form seems to ask for all the activity and supporting documents since entering the UK and I would like to only include the 5 most recent years.

I have been living in the UK for 8 years, 3 as a student, 4 years working for a UK employer and 1 year self-employed. I would like to choose the qualifying period to for the 4 + 1 years as employed as it's much easier to provide the supporting documents, but I can't see a way to do this using the online form.

Pointers would be greatly appreciated!

I am not sure about the online form but the paper form(sending by post) got 2 part, one for when you entered uk and 2 for qualifying period.

Hi hexbud,

There's no specific question either on the online or paper form which asks what your QP is. You can either indicate it in the 'Other information' or 'Further information' (I forget exact wording) section and/or you can include a covering letter with your application where you specify what QP dates you are applying for.

It's good practice to send a covering letter - that's what I did. My covering letter specified about 3 or 4 different times and in bold, what QP I was applying for. I got my EEA (PR) with no problem.

Thanks for the answers!

I will briefly indicate in the Further Info section and include a more detailed cover letter with the QP.

Does that mean that when asked the question in the online form: "Have you been a student or done vocational training since entering the UK?" I should answer "Yes" and provide the relevant details, but then only include the supporting documents for the chosen QP?

Answer 'No' when the form asks if you're a student and don't provide any focuments relative to the student years, because you're choosing to use the 5-year QP of when you were working.

Then explain in the covering letter that you were a student during xx years in xx institution, but that you answered 'No' to this question on the form and you're not providing further details as that student period is outside your QP hence irrelevant to the PR application.
