What after EEA Family Permit

I am an EEA national and my husband who is non EEA has got the EEA Family Permit to join me in the UK.
The validity as you all know is for only 6 months, therefore, what should we do in the interim...should he apply for the residence card as soon as he comes to the UK or should we wait till Brexit kicks in on the 30th of March and apply for the pre-settled status for both of us?
I need your help urgently!
Thanks!

Does he plan to work in the UK? He should apply for a Residence Card asap, as the CoA will be required as proof of his right to work in the UK.

My husband's EEA Family Permit expires in June 2019, what should we do apply for the residence card immediately or wait till April to apply for the settled status?
Also, there's some confusion as to whether he will get settled or pre-settled status.
My scenario is a bit complex, I was in the UK as a student on an Indian passport and EU residence card from 2003-2006. I worked briefly on an EU passport in 2010/11 (about 6-7 months in total) and have now come back to live permanently since October.
Would I also need to wait for 5 years till i quality for settled status or will i get settled status once the scheme opens? Should I include my husband's application once the scheme opens instead of applying for the residence card?
There's so much confusion all thanks to Brexit!

It will be pre settled status as he doesn't have 5 years residence.
You likely start from scratch again too.

Thanks but do I apply for the presettled status once the scheme opens or should we apply for the residence card straightaway?
Your help would be appreciated

Should he apply for the residence card even though it won't be valid after 2020 or just the presettled status in April. He can work with the EEA Family Permit for now.
What's a CoA? pardon my ignorance.

If he has found an acceptable employer who accepts the family permit, then the only advantage of a residence card would be visa free travel with you in the EEA for as long as British Residence Cards are accepted abroad.
