Transit visa or EEA Family Permit?

Hi all
I am an Indian national and my spouse is Dutch. We used to live in UK until last year and I had a residence permit as a family member of EU national. Now we are in the Netherlands and I am awaiting decision on my application under verification under EU Law.
My questions:
I will be traveling with my wife to India via London heathrow. I have to transit for 2 hours on airside before my connecting flight.
1. As I do not have the residence card from Dutch immigration authorities yet, can I still use my UK residence card to board flight to London?
2. Shall I apply for EEA family permit instead?
3. To save the trouble, shall I just apply transit visa as an Indian national?
Thank you for all the help in advance
