BRP for EEA FM - Delivery Process

Hi everyone,
How is the BRP for a spouse of Non EEA delivered.
1/ Is there a confirmation letter of success or failure of application from home office
(i am planning to forward my mail and would receive scans in email. Hence if there is an approval, i can know about it while away)
2/ Is the BRP delivered in the package or one needs to go to post office, show identification and then claim it. I am wondering whether the delivery requires my personal presence
3/ How long does one have to claim the BRP - 1 week/2/3?

Thanks for your replies

Brp cards are delivered by courier usually. Often identification and a signature are required.

On another BRP issue members are posting their BRP receipt date in the EEA FM timeline thread.
Some others mention a letter that states that BRP will arrive in 10 days.
1) Does the BRP card arrive straightaway or a letter arrives first ..
2) members posting in timeline are talking about the letter or actual card

I am in a very time sensitive situation hence the request on details.

Thanks
